Workshop Overview: In this comprehensive self-paced course, students will learn all the important functions on their camera and composition techniques used by professional photographers to achieve consistent results and better images in any lighting conditions. Regular assignments and evaluation of their work ensures that students stay on track. Who should take this course? This course is designed for aspiring photographers, beginners and those new to DSLR cameras. Those who have been shooting for a while but want to improve their skills will enjoy the class too. Although this course is intended for DSLR cameras, other models with creative modes (M, S/Tv and A/Av) are welcome. Those looking for a solid foundation in photography basics will find this course very rewarding. Course Outline: Understanding any camera's limitations recording light Getting acquainted with the essential controls and menus of your DSLR Understanding the camera's automatic settings, when and why to use them Understanding how to take full control of exposure: The Exposure Triangle How to effectively control ISO for proper exposure The creative effect of shutter speed and aperture Understanding and Controlling Depth of Field Understanding equivalent exposures The Histogram and how to interpret and use it Overview of Semi-automatic creative modes; Program mode, Shutter and Aperture Priority Modes How focus works and advanced focusing techniques Achieving correct exposure by understanding your Meter White Balance: How to get the best color in your photographs The benefits of shooting in the RAW format versus the JPG format How to use your Flash properly Understanding lenses, focal length and perspective The Rule of Thirds and achieving balance Composition: Start seeing your world through Photographer’s eyes Introduction to portraiture and landscape photography Course Requirements: This is a video course. You should have a high speed connection to the Internet. Your camera should have a Manual Mode option. While not mandatory, your camera should be able to shoot in RAW.
